WHO
WE ARE
The Iowa Public Airports Association was founded in 1984, as an
outgrowth of the Iowa Airport Executives Association. Initially,
members were limited to airport managers and City/County officials
who recognized the need to expand their ranks to include all airport
decision makers.
In 19 years IPAA has developed a close relationship with the Iowa
DOT and sponsors the annual Iowa Aviation Conference. IPAA
has also been a long-time supporter of Fly Iowa, the annual statewide
fly-in and air fair. When that event was threatened,
IPAA underwrote initial expenses to create and incorporate the Iowa
Aviation Promotion Group and continues to be a charter member of
that organization which acts as the official sponsor and host selection
committee for Fly Iowa.
Our bylaws extend membership to all publicly owned airports in the
state and to any individual or company who has an interest in aviation
in Iowa.
